Past Events & Meetings
DASH is a long established support group and has historically offered regular meetings for parents (often with guest speakers) and a few family/ teen events each year.
Roller City & AGM – Sun, Feb 26th, it was FREE!
The near-annual DASH Roller City Skate Party this year saw 61 attending – our biggest ever event! We had 2 hours of the exclusive use of the rink and dedicated party area.
In January, 2017 we held a ‘Diabetes Tech talk & discussion’. One of our young members Dawn Richardson accompanied her Dad to share her experiences of living with advanced monitoring technology such as having BG results on her wrist and visible to carers.
With 30+ years working in IT and almost 14 years with diabetes intruding in the family, our Treasurer of 13 years (David Richardson) shared observations and insights into technology options available now to help manage the condition.
Since setting Dawn up with Nightscout, David has also developed a PC application that performs trend analysis on BG results. He has released it for free use, and at the event you can receive details of a Google Drive link to download your free copy.
This event was very well attended and a great discussion followed the talk. Thanks to Dawn & David.
In 2016 (November, March & May) & Nov 2915 we held parties for children. Over 40 children enjoyed the fun and new friendships were made. DASH were able to largely fund these event, due to donations from members & friends.Thank you so much!
We are very fortunate to be chosen to be a beneficiary of Harpenden Lions Club’s ‘Highland Gathering’ this year. It was on Sunday 10th July at Rothamstead Park, Harpenden. It was an exciting day with lots of things to do and great entertainment, despite the wet start! Any funds that we are fortunate to get, will be used to fund more activities for families affected by T1D.
